It should be easy to write today’s blog. But somehow it isn’t After all, how do you describe complete lunacy?
You all know that in order to win some imaginary ‘race to Net Zero’ to fight the imaginary ‘Climate Crisis’ to ‘save the planet, our rulers are busy banning everything that makes our lives pleasant.
Efficient, cheap petrol cars – soon to be banned. Efficient, cheap gas central heating – soon to be banned. Production of meat – soon to be reduced to make prices rise forcing us to cut our consumption. Freedom to drive outside your designated zone – already being punished by swingeing fines.
But the next planned series of assaults on our living standards are the stuff of absurdity.
Punishing producers if we don’t buy their products
Heat pumps horror
The Government is planning to fine boiler manufacturers thousands of pounds if they fail to install enough heat pumps under new net zero plans. Ministers are planning to force production quotas onto large manufacturers as part of efforts to�boost uptake of the devices�across Britain.
Companies that fail to meet the quotas will face a fine of �5,000 per device. In an example given in consultation papers, a manufacturer with a shortfall of 100 would be expected to pay �500,000. Heat pumps are seen as a key replacement for gas-fired boilers,�which ministers want to phase out�in order to cut carbon emissions.
Our rulers want us to buy 600,000 horrendously expensive and utterly useless heat pumps a year by 2028. But we’re only buying around 30,000 a year and that number is falling as people learn how expensively dysfunctional heat pumps actually are. In their infinite wisdom, government ministers have decided that it’s the fault of boiler manufacturers that we the public can’t afford to and/or don’t want to buy unaffordable, worthless heat pumps. The new system of punitive fines on boiler manufacturers also takes no account of the fact that there aren’t sufficient installers to put in these ghastly, noisy, underperforming machines and that the electricity grid would collapse were a large number of heat pumps to be installed.
Fining and bankrupting manufacturers because people don’t want to buy their products is madness. It’s so mad, that our cretinous rulers will probably push ahead with their demented scheme.
Electric car crash
Our deranged rulers are planning a similar scheme if we, the public, don’t buy sufficient numbers of electric milk carts pretending to be cars.
At least 22% of the cars manufacturers sell next year (2024) will have to be electric � or car manufacturers could face fines of up to �15,000 per car they miss their target by.�Car makers unable to meet their targets, will be fined, with the government proposing a �15,000 penalty for every non-electric car and �18,000 per non-electric van they miss their target by. The target of 22% will, I believe, be increased each year reaching 80% by 2030.
That�s if the latest government proposals get the go-ahead. On March 30, these were the plans ministers announced proposed as part of a major green agenda which details tough goals and punitive measures for car makers.
With electric vehicles, our expenses-fiddling, self-serving, incompetent government ministers seem blissfully unaware that there aren’t enough charging points for these useless pretend cars were we to be stupid enough to buy them in the quantities our rulers want. But maybe that’s the whole point of the exercise – a 30% reduction in the number of cars on Britain’s roads as is detailed in the Government’s Net Zero plans.

And in Lewisham (London) the council tried to get away with fining motorists around �55,000 for daring to drive through a Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) even though the motorists were forced to use the LTN route because a burst water main prevented them using roads which avoided the LTN.
Browbeat, coerce, fine, punish, imprison
That this is happening in Britain – a formerly democratic country and the birthplace of parliamentary democracy is beyond incredible. Our politicians are elected supposedly to serve their constituents. But I guess our bovine capitulation to the Chinese lab-leaked plague lockdowns has given our parasitic rulers a heady taste of total power over us and now they believe they can get away with anything.
History has taught us that whenever an oppressive regime tries to restrict the supply of something people want, a black market quickly develops. So, I guess it won’t be long before the only place you can get a petrol-driven car or gas boiler or decent cut of meat will be when it’s smuggled into Britain and sold on the black market. Then anyone buying or selling the ‘wrong’ kind of heating or ‘wrong’ kind of car on the black market or else anyone caught eating too much meat will be arrested, tried and sent to prison for ‘crimes against the planet’. And no doubt our envious neighbours will be only too happy to denounce us to the eco-police if we manage to obtain things they are too cowardly to get for themselves.

The politics and theatre of this is interesting. The climate change act was voted through unopposed at the end of the brown regime before the eton tory toffs were voted into power in 2010.
The tories have made noises about implementing all this but have not really done too much other than ramp up taxes everywhere. The tax burden is the highest it has ever been other than wartime although it must be heading back there.
But just as they are about to lose the next election due to their gross incompetence / implementing agenda 2030 depending upon whether you think the mess is intentional or not. They suddenly start proposing extremely expensive greenie policies to move the watermelon agenda forward.
Labour will inherit a mess plus a trojan horse which has the potential to crash the economy. I suspect the corrupt useless tories are just relieved they wont be left holding the parcel when it explodes and hope they have passed the poisoned chalice of all their makings to labour. But really the liblabcongreensdp uni-party all deserve to be wiped out.
I’ve just finished a nice lunch and then I get this email. If you add in food shortages to the list then you will have defined complete lunacy.
But a majority seem very willing to go along with this, so who are the lunatics? Bettany Hughes managed to introduce carbon dioxide extraction from the atmosphere into the last of her Treasures of the World series. There is no end to the apparently well educated people who believe and promote net zero. There have been some articles recently claiming net zero is losing support but I cannot see any sign of it especially in the UK. GB News seems afraid to say anything about net zero except we need to slow down the speed of getting there. I wonder whether Ofcom has threatened them.
I was left concerned about Rees-Mogg last week when he claimed that Prince Andrew was treated as an ordinary citizen over the child sex claims because he hadn’t been charged, forgetting the matter of the �12m or so to ensure that he wasn’t. His two experts didn’t say anything either. Where can we get reliable opinions today?

Good article. I would add, however, it is not just Britain but the whole of the Western world that has been infected with this lunacy. Is it all to destabilise the West ready for One World Government through the UN and WEF?
I did a double check on starting to read this, thinking it must still be April First! Sadly not, and it has the sinister clang of horrifying truth, sounding the death knell of life in the UK as we have known it since the end of WW2. I heard of someone only last week who has just had an air-source heat pump installed in a detached country house and is bitterly disappointed, stating it costs as much to run as did the gas boiler it replaces and does no more than take off the worst chill of the recent cold weather. Additional electric heating is required in any room where people are actually going to sit down and relax. So bang went around �15K for nil points! Plus whenever there’s a power cut they will freeze! And that’s here in the warm, coastal South of England. Electric cars are a total no-goer – literally, as many people are starting to discover, when they blithely set out from their well-heeled urban homes, batteries fully charged from their personal on-site electricity supply, only to find that half way along the 300 mile drive from the Big Bad City to their chosen rural retreat, they’ve run out of power, the nearest charging point is a score of miles away and when they get there – if they do – they find it out of action. No Government with the genuine welfare of those it purports to govern could possibly advocate any of this idiocy. It is patently obvious that they don’t want us to drive anywhere, even to own personal transport. As for the anti-oil, anti-coal, “greenie” brigade, a shining example was that of some pink-haired, ill-educated, brash-mouthed young female, probably still a “stoodent” at some third-rate “uni” who, while loud-mouthing Jacob RM on GBNews last week about the evils of all fossil fuels, could only state when challenged by JRM concerning an alternative, was that “she wasn’t a scientist”. She certainly didn’t have the brain to be one, that’s for sure! It did strike me, en passant, that oil-based products and power were undoubtedly used in the production of the chemical concoction responsible for her hair colour! Natural it most certainly was not! But then, “not being a scientist” she wouldn’t have considered that, would she? Yes, it does all seem to be part of a far greater agenda – to control, corral, limit the lifestyles of all of us Great Unwashed. The self-styled Elite of the world intend to grab all the goodies for their own exclusive enjoyment. They don’t want us lot cramming the skies with our charter flights and polluting the warmer seas and sandy beaches with our sun-screened carcasses and vulgar, colourful brollies. They don’t intend us to eat appetising, first-class-protein meals or even to spend our money as we wish. Let us not forget the confiscated bank accounts of the Canadian truckers. It isn’t just the UK imposing these constraints on populations, but like every bureaucratic dictat, be it from the EU before Brexit, or now from the Climate Catastrophists, British governments for some reason always add an extra layer or two of idiocy just for good measure. The Puritan ethos of self-imposed suffering and denial continues to flow strongly in our collective blood-stream. However, even in the UK people DO turn when pushed just that bit too far. A good number of Mayor Khan’s newly installed extended ULEZ zone cameras seem to coming in for a bit of damage!
The West is now in terminal decline, openly mocked by the rest of the world (approx 5 billion people). BRICS+ will succeed with their rejection of (petro) dollars, which will eventually reduce the USA to 3rd world poverty.
It’s very annoying to be on the wrong side of progress, stuck with our WEF-trained puppet leaders, all of whom seem to be barking mad.
Is there something we are not seeing here? I feel that I am reading the same issues over and over, but in this blog I think you are trying to find different ways of looking at the range of problems we are all interested in.
Mattias Desmet seems to be out of favour now but when he was talking about mass hypnosis he said the only way to overcome it was for those not suffering from it to keep repeating what is wrong with the narratives they believe. Everything seems to be getting worse culminating in the belief that we can change sex. I can understand why some technical issues are difficult, but changing sex? What hope is there of changing minds when this nonsense is now a regular topic of conversation on TV?
I was a comment by Aldous Huxley I saw earlier that made me come back to this post:

Is it too much to hope that common sense will prevail? I cannot see it when the educators, politicians and media are the main promoters of this nonsense. There was a series about the Salem witch trials based on transcripts of the trial. Nobody ever saw any evidence of witchcraft but yet they believed. The series was dramatised and showed young girls in court being possessed by the devil and adults believing it was real. I thought that torture had been used to get confessions but I read that in Europe some women confessed because to them it was confirmation that they had the powers they claimed. Are we really any different today when it comes to accepting beliefs? I thought that science had changed this but it seems that science can now be corrupted and used against us. Are we just going through another period of mass insanity in the west that must just work itself out on some unknown timescale?
