Hopefully readers all know how George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four starts:
This prepares us for Doublethink where the Party, run by Big Brother, has decreed that words mean the opposite of what they say. And so the book also has:
- The Ministry of Peace oversees war
- The Ministry of Love carries out the torture of political prisoners and serve as the police of Oceania
- The Ministry of Truth is in charge of changing the content in history books and in the news to agree with the Party’s beliefs
As political correctness stifles free speech, we seem to be moving into Orwell’s Big Brother world as, in reality, many words now mean the opposite of their true meanings.
Let me use the Urban Dictionary to give just a few examples. I’m sure you can all think of many more:
Antifa (antifascist) They fight against “fascists” while being fascist themselves. They will destroy your property and violently attack you if you disagree with them.
Me: I like Trump
Antifa: Fascist! I’m going to beat you up and burn down your car
Climatologist: A member of a strange new religious doomsday cult who has less scientific knowledge than an astrologist. When it’s very hot, that’s proof of Global Warming. When it’s very cold, that’s just “weather” and “has nothing to do with climate”. Will say anything and fiddle any figures in order to get government grants and invitations to attend massive conferences in the world’s most prestigious holiday resorts.
Climate warrior: An emotionally and socially dysfunctional person, driven by irrational desire(s) to put the entirety of humanity and the technology and innovation that brought society to the current peak of development out of commission for the sake of being seen to be “green” and more virtuous than everyone else. Usually come from the middle classes and are employed in the public sector – working people with real jobs don’t have time for such bollox. Well-known, multi-millionaire environmentalists travel by private jet (Leonardo DiCrapio and Prince Harry the Hypocrite) or at least First Class (Emma Thompson?). All environmental conferences have at least 20,000 delegates who all fly in and stay in the best hotels. They never use video conferencing.
Asylum seeker: People from backward, uncivilised Third-world sh*t-holes who come to the prosperous and civilised West for the free welfare and to harass as many indigenous Westerners as possible through rape, criminality, violence and trying to enforce their own usually medieval beliefs and laws. Most Western countries take them in because of their radical leftist views of being “culturally enriched” and their leaders’ loathing of their own countries’ history and success
Racist: If you’re a white man, this is what you are. It doesn’t even matter if your wife is black and you have an adopted child from India, or how many black friends you have, somehow you’re going to end up being a racist according to how the media portrays the white man as “racist whities”
College student #1: “Welcome everybody! This is a free speech zone!”
College student #2: “Oh great, then let me use this opportunity to vent about how I believe that there are only two genders – male and female – and that many movements like Black Lives Matter and Trans-activists and Antifa are hypocritical by spewing hatred and doing exactly what they claim to be against”
College Student #1: “GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE YOU INTOLERANT BIGOT!”
Progressive: An arrogant individual who will attempt to dictate how you live your life because, “It’s in your best interest“, as if you don’t know what’s good for you but they do. Wants to take away the money you worked your ass off to earn and give it to some welfare leech that doesn’t even try to get a job. Because “That’s fair.”
Will try to restrict your right to free speech if you disagree with them. Because “That’s hate speech!” Wants to take away your right and means to defend yourself against violence and force you to be a victim. Because “That will make you safer.” Wants to deny you the right to raise your children the way you choose and instead forcibly indoctrinate them to their way of thinking. They call it “Education”. Often have never existed outside of a media studio or university classroom, but will quickly denounce anybody with actual real-world experience.
Go on and on about “Free/Independent Thinking” and being “Open-Minded” yet do everything they can to censor anybody who doesn’t toe their party line. Are quick to call anybody who disagrees with them a “Racist“, “Homophobe“, “Transphobe”, “Bigot” etc etc but call this practice “Tolerance and Civility”.

Funnily enough I’ve just read 1984 and although dated it was just like observing Britain in 2019. It really was. I recommend folks to read it. Good article as always.
Prophetic, and it eas described as ‘fiction’ at the time. How I would love to read the sequel, 2024 perhaps?
Very amusing and terrifying at the same time.
Some adjustment to Climatologist is needed. When it is cold it is also due to global warming, except in the polar regions. We don’t have weather any more because that implies everything is normal when every day there is a crisis somewhere that we all have to take action to prevent.
I did find Nigel Farage a breath of fresh air last night. He stood up to all the loons in the audience.
