We’re constantly harassed by the holier-than-thou, save-the-planet, we-know-better-than-you Greenies about how we need to cut down on CO2 emissions to save the planet from the threat/fraud (delete as appropriate) of Global Warming or Climate Change or whatever it’s called this week.
But if we drastically reduced our CO2 emissions by say an almost impossible 33%, would it make any difference to anything? Well, here are some facts:
– Around 800 gigatonnes of CO2 enters the Earth’s atmosphere every year (give or take a few gigatonnes).
– About 439 gigatonnes of CO2 come from vegetation and the land – nothing to do with human activity!
– About 332 gigatonnes come from the oceans – nothing to do with human activity!
– Only around 29 gigatonnes come from human activity – burning fossil fuels and farming.
So, just 3.6% of CO2 entering the Earth’s atmosphere comes from human activity. And if we really managed to reduce our emissions of CO2 by a third, that would just result in an overall reduction in global CO2 emissions of 1.2%. Ummm, not that much really.
As for little Britain. Britain accounts for about 1.4% of CO2 emissions due to human activity. That’s just an infintessimal 0.05% of total CO2 emissions. So if we really adhered to idiot Ed Miliband’s 2008 Climate Change Act and reduced Britain’s CO2 emissions by 80% by 2050, this wouldn’t make the slightest difference to the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. But it would just about shut down any form of activity in the UK.
In fact, we’re already seeing the effects of Ed Miliband’s Climate Change Act on our economy. Due to Miliband’s ‘Green Taxes’, energy intensive industries like aluminium smelting, steel works, oil refineries and chemical plants are closing and tens of thousands of people are losing their jobs. Meanwhile the Chinese and Indians are laughing at us as they get the jobs we’re losing.
Anyway, we’re still waiting to hear a plausible explanation from the Greenies about why global temperatures have remained pretty stable for the last 15 years while the amount of CO2 emitted by human activity has soared.
Yet the longer the Earth’s temperature doesn’t increase, the more desperate the Warmists get in their efforts to protect their Global Warming cult.
But if the Earth’s temperature really was linked to man-made CO2 emissions, it would be impossible for there to be no warming while CO2 emissions rocketed ever upwards.
The latest Greenie trick is to bleat on about how the Arctic ice cap is shrinking. And they’re right. It is. After all, that great climatologist Emma Thompson has been to the Arctic and seen the lack of ice. But what the Greenies don’t mention is that Antarctic ice is at record levels. Hence a ship full of Greenies got stuck in the ice when they went on an expedition to prove there was less ice.
Sigh. I’m really tired of all the Greenie lies and deceit. Man-made Global Warming – it’s all giga-bollocks!

“Climate change” or whatever you choose to call it is cyclical. The Romans were able to grow grapes for wine satisfactorily during their occupation of England and just after that period the Vikings were busy colonising Greenland, where the climate at that time was sufficiently benign for permit the growing of cereal crops. Then the polar ice cap invaded further South; now it is retreating. As far as I know, that pre-Medieval period of warmth did not come about because people had been driving around in gas-guzzling 4 x 4s or engaging in carbon-producing heavy industry!
But Professors Al Gore and Emma Thompson have definitively pronounced, so what do we ordinary folk know?
But I thought they were using gas-emitting chariots just before the medieval warm period. All the methane coming from the horses’ bottoms as they galloped along went into the atmosphere causing global warming, didn’t it?
